It’s been five years, but 2020 still feels so scary, right? After all, the pandemic had led the whole world to shut down. However, while the entire gymnastics community was waiting for some normalcy, one LSU rookie was already making the most of her time at Baton Rouge. Yes, you guessed it right. It’s Olivia Dunne. Now, five years down the line and one NCAA and two SEC titles later, Livvy is finally ready for her swansong at the Purple and Gold. So, in true Livvy fashion, she left something for her fans to bid adieu. So, how did they react?

Well, let’s just say it was something unique. After all, the LSU senior isn’t just another gymnast. She is also America’s biggest online heartthrob, with eight million followers on TikTok. So it was no wonder that at her farewell message, they all came to bid her goodbye. But wait, what did she post? Well, following the viral trend that uses Scott Street by Phoebe Bridgers, Dunne shot a TikTok with Haleigh Bryant, another one of the LSU seniors who are bidding their farewell.

It begins with Dunne mouthing, “Bye, I will see you at practice tomorrow.” The camera switches to Bryant, who mouths, “Liv, this is our last practice ever.” The camera then cuts to the two of them, hugging it out before walking off, amusingly doing the viral Griddy dance. The duo donned the purple of their team as the caption said, “How is it our last practice ever? 🥲 @Haleigh Bryant.

Bryant, too, took part in Olivia’s enthusiasm as she commented, “Time flies😭.” But can we disagree? After all, it felt just like yesterday when she arrived at Baton Rouge as a hopeful back in 2021. Since then, she has been an integral member of the championship-winning team from last year. But while Bryant still has the chance to taste more championship glory, the same can’t be said about her teammate. Why?

Well, because Livvy has been injured since January and will probably miss the upcoming games as well. But while she is staying strong and supporting her compatriots from the sidelines, the fans are adamant to do the same for Livvy. Every post, every video has just been another sea of Thank You, and Get Better messages. From “Miss you, Livvy; get your knee better” and many more things. But one thing’s clear: once the curtain finally falls on Olivia’s NCAA career, it’s going to be a tearful moment. And the fans are already livid.

Fans get emotional at Olivia Dunne’s farewell

When you see a gymnast perform her absolute best for your favorite team for 5 straight years, it’s hard to say goodbye. But when you know how inevitable goodbyes are, you wish them the best they can have. Like this fan said, “Back to Back nattys sounds like a proper send-off for your last year in college. Best of luck, ladies!” It seems the fans want nothing but for Olivia to get that second title as a farewell gift.

And the feeling seems to be the same across the fandom, as another fan wished them the best of luck for NCAA, citing, “I wanna wish u both and your teammates good luck in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday. You’re both my favorite gymnasts on LSU.” But for some fans, this goodbye is tough, and it is bound to be. After all, Olivia and the rest of the seniors have all been integral to The Climb.

One fan wrote, “It’s always tough to say goodbye to such an amazing chapter. Best of luck on everything ahead!” While we are unsure of what the future holds for Bryant, Dunne has said in the past that her long-distance relationship with her boyfriend would end with her time at LSU. So we might see the social media sensation moving to Pittsburgh. One fan even commented, “Losing our perfect 10s.”

But again, with eighteen perfect tens to her name, Haleigh Bryant has been the go-getter for the Tigers. But while all this was going on, one netizen took their time to praise Olivia Dunne’s legacy. “You left a legacy!!! Great job. You’re crushing it,” they wrote. In 2024 alone, she was a WCGA Academic All-American and a part of the Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll; the latter was also achieved by her in 2023, and these are only a few. She has left a little more than a legacy at LSU, and this goodbye is one of the hardest ones for LSU fans this season.
