The Seattle Seahawks find themselves in a situation where no franchise would want to be. Their star quarterback, Russell Wilson, isn’t quite happy with how things are going on with the team.

Wilson has been rather public about his grievances, especially with his team’s O-Line. The quarterback has been sacked 394 times ever since making his NFL debut back in 2012. The most among any quarterbacks in that period.

What’s more, is that 47 of those sacks came last season. So it’s easy to understand why Wilson isn’t quite pleased with his pass protection.

While the QB hasn’t publicly said he wants a trade, rumors have been rife regarding him moving away from Seattle. Even his agent named teams, including the like of the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders as possible landing spots for the QB if he wishes to get traded.

The Seahawks, though, look determined to hold on to Wilson. Heck, even the city mayor told the New Orleans Saints to keep their eyes off Russell Wilson. But as per a recent report, the Seahawks might’ve changed their mind.

Seahawks looking to offload Russell Wilson

While talking on the PFN podcast, NFL analyst Tony Pauline dropped a bombshell regarding the current situation involving Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

“Now, what I was told by somebody close to the situation yesterday, is that the Seahawks want to trade Russell Wilson as much as Russell Wilson wants out of Seattle, which kind of surprised me,” Pauline said.

But Pauline did say that the trade is unlikely to go through this year, given the deflated salary cap. The NFL recently announced that it will set the salary cap for the 2021 season at $182.5 million. This is a steep decline from the $198.2 million mark set last season.

“It’s very unlikely to happen this year, or it’s gonna be tough for it to happen this year because of Russell Wilson’s salary cap number. And the fact that you have a deflated salary cap… It’s going to make it very tough for the Seattle Seahawks to move Russell Wilson.”

He further added that if a deal isn’t landed this year, it could well be Russell Wilson’s last ever season in Seattle.
