A former linebacker who was a teammate of Tom Brady during his days as a Patriot was charged with two felonies. Willie McGinest was involved in a fight on December 9 at Delilah in West Hollywood.
As per TMZ reported, the Patriots legend, who is a three-time Super Bowl winner, was hit with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault by means of force with the intention of causing serious bodily injury. Each charge carries up to four years in prison. The complaint was lodged in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office this week. The arraignment is scheduled for April.

What exactly did the former teammate of Tom Brady do?
The law officials arrested McGinest back in December after a video showed him and other people engaged in a brutal altercation.
In the video, the 51-year-old approached the man, who was sitting at a table and punched him in the face. Then one can see the former athlete holding a bottle. He allegedly used it to smash the man’s head.

The video also showed that his group joined the fight. They beat the man until according to what we can assume was the security chief, they de-escalated the situation. McGinest and his group left the scene eventually.
McGinest apologized for his mistake
At the time, the Patriots legend served as a studio analyst for the NFL Network. But after the incident, he did not appear on NFL Network. Then in late December, he wrote an apology statement which he since then deleted. It read, “I want to offer my deepest apology for my lapse in judgment and behavior on December 9 at a restaurant in West Hollywood. To my family, community, friends, and youth I mentor, please know I feel horrible for my actions and take full responsibility.”
McGinest played for the Patriots for the duration of his 15-year NFL career after they selected him fourth overall out of USC in the 1994 NFL Draft. The two-time Pro Bowler spent three seasons (2006–2008) with the Browns. In his regular-season career, McGinest recorded 86 sacks, 581 solo tackles, and 16 caused fumbles.
On August 5, 2015, during his Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, McGinest signed a one-day deal with New England.
