Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones will not be delighted with the latest developments in the Mile High City on Tuesday. The Denver Broncos sale has led to the entry of Walmart’s heir Rob Walton into the NFL. He will become the richest NFL franchise owner, with a net worth of around $58 billion.

While the Cowboys remain the most valuable NFL franchise in the league, there seems to be a growing concern about losing that title.
The Denver Broncos have just entered into an agreement to sell the team to the group led by Walmart heir Rob Walton.
The deal is for a U.S. sports-franchise record $4.65 billion, per @mikeklis.

The Walmart heir will be forking out around $4.65 billion to purchase his hometown franchise. He will also become the second richest sports owner in the USA behind only NBA franchise Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Balmer. To further add to the misery of Jones, Walton has a higher net worth than the top 5 NFL owners combined.
Jerry Jones still possesses the most valuable NFL franchise
Despite recent developments, the Cowboys owner will continue the streak of being the owner of one of the most valuable franchises for possibly a 16th NFL season. According to Forbes figures, the Cowboys have a valuation of $6.5 billion if Jones ever looks to sell. They saw a 14 percent rise in their value despite having no fans in stadiums and sustaining the effects of months of lockdown.
As the entire league experienced a 20 percent loss in their revenue, the Cowboys found a way to have impressive operating income numbers. They ranked at the top with $280.4 million in operating income, nearly 2 times more than the nearest NFL franchise, the New England Patriots.
Almost $200 million of what the team made came from their combined sponsorship and ad revenue.

While Jones will fall down the pecking order in the NFL’s richest list, the long-term forecasts favor the Cowboys. However, his focus will soon shift to the upcoming NFL season that might see the franchise finally make a Super Bowl appearance in 2022.
