Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter to lose in OT against the Cleveland Browns. The loss to the Browns was the sixth of the season for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Their season still hangs in balance.

Brady expressed his frustration with the team’s performance rather than the injury setbacks.

Tom Brady frustrated

The Buccaneers led the Browns 17-10 going into the fourth quarter. But the Browns fought back late in the fourth quarter to level the game and force the OT. Nick Chubb ran the final two yards after Amari Cooper caught and ran 46 yards to set up a Cleveland first down at the Buccaneers’ two-yard line. The Bucs QB Tom Brady refused to blame anyone for the injury setbacks to his team.

“No, it is up to us to change the momentum. Again, I don’t think you leave it up to chance. I think you try to do the right thing every day in practice and every day in the game. And you know, you try to do it consistently well over time,” Brady said. The seven-time Super Bowl champion opened up on what the Buccaneers needed to do to win the game and improve the season.

“We just haven’t done a good job of stringing enough plays together to score touchdowns consistently,” he added. The Bucs lost All-Pro right tackle Tristan Wirfs to a likely season-ending leg injury during the loss against the Browns.

Frustrating night for the Bucs

The loss was more frustrating for the Bucs because of various factors. The game should not have gone to overtime as they were leading, with a few minutes remaining. Then they did not take a timeout after the first play of their last drive-in regulation time. That resulted in a loss of precious seconds and the Bucs could not reach a good field goal position before the end of regulation time. They ended the fourth quarter with two unused timeouts. And then the overtime injury to Wirfs.

Tom Brady had a decent game individually. He threw 29 completions for 246 yards. The legendary QB threw two touchdown passes in the game. But he could not lead his team to victory.

The Buccaneers are still at the top of the NFC South divisional table with a 5-6 record. But can they last the length even if they manage to win their division?
