Recently, Tom Brady has signed a 10-year deal worth $375 million with Fox Sports. According to the deal, Brady would be joining as a broadcaster after his playing career ends. Nobody knows when the 7-time Super Bowl-winning champion will retire, but his future is already secured. 

Reacting to the news, former ESPN president John Skipper joins the list of Tom Brady haters and looks at the deal as a total waste. Skipper said, “There’s very little economic value. He’s a very, very, very expensive trophy.”

Skipper straightforwardly compared Brady to an expensive trophy. He also said Fox had secured him as it would help them shake hands with advertisers.

On being asked if he would have hired Tom Brady given the chance, John Skipper said, “I would have said no. I don’t think that’s necessary, or a good use of $375 million,” added Skipper. “At about $100,000 a pop, we could have hired 370 employees for that.”

John Skipper was amused as Tom Brady would be earning more than what he is earning right now. He called out the figures and said Brady will be making $12.5 million more than he is earning now as a quarterback.

There are players who have taken up Broadcasting after their retirement, but no one has such high salaries as Tom Brady. The top Broadcaster Troy Aikman and Tony Romo make $18 million per year. They don’t make half of what Brady will earn once he joins Fox as an Analyst.

John Skipper was a former ESPN president from 2012 to 2017, and he is currently the CEO of Meadowlark Media. He thinks the dollars practically should be used for strategic purposes. Fox could have bought the rights to the Live events that could have proven beneficial for them.
