Although the 29-year-old may not be as big of a name in the league as Patrick Mahomes, he surely knows how mightily to celebrate his victories. The Old Dominion product revealed he celebrates his win by purchasing new pairs of shining Jordans.

Taylor Heinicke said, “Every time we get the win, when I’m in the training room the next day, I always buy myself a pair of [Jordans].” That is not the only impressive part about his win. The color of the sneakers is decided by the team he defeats. So, when the Walter Payton Award winner won against the Green Bay Packers by a score of 23-21, he bought himself a green and yellow Js, which he wore to a weekly press conference.

One may wonder: ‘Jordans are super expensive; how is Heinicke able to get his hands on them?’ Well, the veteran QB does not worry about money because of a sweet deal he signed with his team. He will be paid a bonus of $125,000 if he wins any game in which he takes at least 60% of the snaps. This can give him the freedom to buy as many Jumpman as possible. Fans should ask: ‘Did he get a customized pair of blue and white Jordans?’

Will Taylor Heinicke remain a backup?

After the team put Carson Wentz on the IR list, the job fell on Heinicke to start the games. He was expected to start three games. Compared to other number-one overall picks like Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, Baker Mayfield, etc. the Commanders backup has the highest winning percentage: 9-8, .529.

Against the Colts, he had a fourth-quarter game-winning drive; it was only his 18th career start. Along with that, he also has four fourth-quarter comebacks. Although a small sample to start with, the QB’s numbers can do him good and can help him in the long run. The team can also benefit if it made a team around Taylor Heinicke.
