Tom Brady is the greatest player to ever feature in the NFL. The seven Super Bowl rings on him are a testament to that fact. But there are moments when the QB undermines himself in the NFL. And he provided one such rare moment while discussing his battles with the NFL greats like Aaron Donald and Ray Lewis.

Brady talked about him being pitted against huge players in the league. And despite that, he has lasted more than half of his lifetime at the elite level.

Tom Brady feels lucky to play in the NFL

Tom Brady undersold himself in the latest episode of his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast as an NFL player. Calling himself a “weak kid”, he opened up about his battles with huge guys like Aaron Donald and Ray Lewis.

“The greatest athletes in the world try to hit me. Aaron Donald, who is like a freak….Jason Taylor and I think Dwight Freeney, all these amazing guys, Ray Lewis, I mean these guys are the biggest, strongest guys. Here I was some skinny, weak, you know, kid from San Mateo that found a way. And here I am,” Brady said.

If that is not underselling himself, then nothing is. Brady just made his way to another playoff appearance this year despite having the worst season in his long career. The players he named are greats in their own regard. But nobody comes close to the legendary QB in terms of achievements as an elite athlete.

The face of the NFL

Tom Brady is the face of the league he plays in. In fact, he is the face of football in the entire world. Even if someone doesn’t follow football as a fan, the first name they remember whenever the topic comes up is Brady. Playing one of the most violent team sports at the age of 45 is no joke.

Brady started his career as a sixth-round draft pick in 2000 and played for the New England Patriots for the next two decades. From a weak dude almost no one wanted, he established himself as the GOAT of the game. He won six Super Bowl titles with the Foxborough franchise, the number equal to the most successful teams in the history of the league.

He switched to the Buccaneers in 2020 and won the Super Bowl there too, ending all the debates about the greatest of all time in the league. The “skinny, weak dude from San Mateo” is the face of football, a game said to be only for big dudes.
