The Jacksonville Jaguars are really trying to finalize a deal with the Buccaneers to get a new era rolling. Leftwich was among many who did go for the interview and was a huge favorite since the vacancy came around.

The Buccaneers OC seems to have a healthy respect for his soon-to-be former employers. He dismissed links with the Jaguars’ job during their active 2021 season. Being a former Jaguars QB, Leftwich had an 8-hour meeting with the Jaguars hierarchy. The OC did also receive a glowing endorsement from his Buccaneers QB Tom Brady, who just had great things to say.

The key to the favor from their board lies that he has familiarity with the organization. A former Super Bowl champion with the Steelers, he could just end up being the best role model for Jaguars young QB Trevor Lawrence.

While looking at his history with the Jaguars franchise, he was drafted 7th overall in the 2003 Draft. He made 44 starts in 46 games. A forward-thinking coach who has a strong player relationship bonding history will be a breath of fresh air. He has spent time with coach Bruce Arians and developed tactical knowledge of the game with him.
Owner Shad Khan and GM Trent Baalke will be really looking to rope in someone who could be the answer. A familiar face will also smooth over things with Jacksonville fans who have been on their case following consecutive disappointing seasons. Even QB Lawrence will look to develop in an offense that will complement his skill set, something his former coach wasn’t able to unlock.
