Colin Kaepernick hasn’t been part of the NFL for over five years now. He has had workouts with teams, but so far a move hasn’t materialized. This has left many of his fans frustrated and with a belief that they might not see Kap again on an NFL field.

However, according to a recent report, a new franchise has emerged as an interested party in entering the Colin Kaepernick sweepstakes. That franchise is none other than a sneaky NFC North contender, the Minnesota Vikings.
Kirk Cousins currently holds the starting quarterback position, and there is no doubt about that. However, the QB2 position is up for grabs. So far in training camp, none of their backup quarterbacks have done a good job. As a result, as of now, their backup to Cousins isn’t clear-cut.

Currently, the backup quarterbacks are Sean Mannion and Kellen Mond. If none of them emerges as a strong contender for the QB2 position of the Vikings, a move for Colin Kaepernick might be on the cards for the franchise.
The Minnesota Vikings have a good team this year. They are a strong contender to win the NFC North and dethrone the Green Bay Packers. As a result, the franchise wouldn’t want to start the season with uncertainty in their quarterback room.
Colin Kaepernick was close to making a return this season
Earlier in the offseason, Colin Kaepernick worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders. The initial sense around the league was that Kaepernick had a decent workout and could return to the league.
However, that didn’t happen, as the Raiders decided not to sign him. Since then, no team has stepped forward in the pursuit of bringing back Kap to the league. Things might turn in the favor of the former 49ers quarterback now that the Vikings might be interested.

Kaepernick has a large fan base. If he returns to the league, the team that he will be on will immediately attract many new fans. Even though QB is good for marketing, the teams want to bring him for his ability on the field.
