The San Francisco 49ers played like a powerhouse in the 2022-2023 NFL season. But they fell short against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Conference Championship Game. Even though they could not advance to play in Super Bowl LVII, they had a pretty successful season. One player, who has been an important part of Kyle Shanahan’s offense, was recently wrapped up in trade rumors. Many believed that the 49ers will trade Deebo Samuel to an AFC East team.

Even though Samuel did not participate in four games last season, he managed to amass 864 yards of offense and five touchdowns. This certainly makes the talented WR a great pick for a team who wants explosive wide-outs. One of those teams is the New England Patriots. Hence, many people have made the connection between the two. Fans thought the Patriots were eager to bring him to the team. However, fresh developments have taken place regarding this news.

“I checked in with somebody who would absolutely know on this, and they said, ‘A) We’re not trading him and B) They haven’t called,'” Breer said. “So wherever this is, it hasn’t gotten to the Niners’ desks. This isn’t something that’s been on the table for them at all.” In the eyes of Breer, the deal is quite impossible as “there’s no meat on the bone there as of right now,” he added.

With his ability to thrive at the wide receiver or running back positions, the 27-year-old is among the most adaptable players in the league. He hauled in 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns in 2021. He added 365 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground. Although the Patriots could use a WR like Samuel, a trade is highly inconceivable.

Samuel requested a trade from San Francisco last year. But the two came on agreeable terms and gave him a three-year contract extension which was worth $71.55 million.
