For the past few days, DeAndre Hopkins has been the center of attention in the NFL world. After his not-so-surprised release from the Cardinals, fans and experts were dedicated to guessing whichever team he would play for next. But since his release from his now former team on Friday, he has been bombarded with sad news. There are many teams in line to recruit an experienced wide receiver like Hopkins on their team. As per expert analysis, the Bills and the Chiefs were the top two suitable teams for Hopkins. But now that Patrick Mahomes has revealed the Chief’s secret weapon, the chances for Hopkins are looking really slim.

Does Hopkins even stand a chance to play with Patrick Mahomes?

Aside from the Bills, the Chiefs are also in dire need of an experienced wide receiver. Hopkins has been the clear choice for a while now, but his giant cap space is impossible for the Chiefs to bear. Also, Hopkins hasn’t budged even a bit from his asking price. So, as of now, both parties haven’t been able to come to an agreement. While Hopkins is desperate to look for a new home, the Chiefs have revealed their secret weapon, Justyn Ross, who has taken the NFL world by storm after catching a deep pass from Patrick Mahomes in the training camp.

Ross was drafted by the Chiefs in 2022. But due to a foot injury, he could not play in the last season. The rookie WR has won all the Chiefs fans’ hearts after an outstanding performance during OTA training. If all goes well, the Chiefs may no longer need to chase Hopkins.

The rookie WR has recovered from his injury and is dominating the offseason training. He was easily catching a dirt-like throw from Mahomes in the video posted on Twitter. Fans have already spoken and rooting for him to play this season. While all things look very promising for Justyn, Hopkins is still one of the best WR in the league.

Justyn has shown incredible performance throughout his uni years. He played for Clemson University from 2018 to 2019, catching 6 passes over 150 yards. In his first year as a freshman, he recorded a whopping 1000 yards, and as a sophomore, he followed it up with 865 more yards, totaling 17 touchdown catches. Justyn was injured during the 2020 season, and his 2021 season comeback wasn’t that great, but he still managed to get drafted in 2022.

Even though Justyn shows true potential for the missing puzzle the Chiefs need, he still lacks experience when compared to Hopkins. He does not even come close. Hopkins has dominated the league for a while now. He played against the best and performed under pressure. His stats speak for itself. The 3-times First-team All-Pro will be perfect in any roster. Time will tell if he is recruited by his desired team, or if he finally submits and takes a pay cut.
