The Panthers WR Robbie Anderson was not so fond of his new QB Baker Mayfield. He appeared to back the Panthers’ QB Sam Darnold ahead of Mayfield before finalizing the trade. But later, Anderson questions and points out flaws in Darnold’s development as a quarterback with the Carolina Panthers. It paved the way for Mayfield, who has been proficient at being a starting QB in games since his draft in 2018.

Justifying his comment, Anderson mentioned he had his QB’s back and was being a good teammate. But, conversely, in his recent interview, he talks about how the situation with Sam Darnold could have been different. He would have started later, just as Patrick and Lamar did for their franchises.

What did Robbie say about his QB, and what is the Panthers’ trade deal with Baker Mayfield?

Speaking on the I AM ATHLETE podcast, the Panthers’ WR said, “I feel like his development was all messed up coming into the league. Look at Pat and look at Lamar. They ain’t play right away. I don’t feel like Sam should have played right away. I feel like being in the building, the coaches, I was there, you what I’m saying. It wasn’t right. In his defence, I don’t feel he was developed a 100% correctly.”
