In the American sports ecosystem, it’s rare to outshine Michael Jordan. Few have done it on the court, let alone off of it. But MLB & NFL superstar is one of the limited exceptions to have done that. Back in the 1990s, Coach Prime, aka, Deion Sanders helped Nike sell more shoes, than the Basketball sensation Michael Jordan.

In a time where Jordan ruled the courts, outshining him in the shoe market was no mean feat, and Sanders achieved that ably. But over time, his relationship went sour with the shoe dog and fell out of favor with them. But the latest update shared by Sanders suggests he could rekindle some old memories with his former endorser.

Deion Sanders is coming back

The former WR for the 49ers and Cowboys was at his peak in the NFL in the mid 1990s. Winning back to back super bowl with two different teams, Sanders could do no wrong on the pitch. And off the pitch, he was helping Nike make millions with his performances alongside his endorsement. But over the years, the rift grew between the Corporation and the NFL star, which ultimately broke in the last decade.

But the latest update on Prime time’s IG handle has all but confirmed a reunion between the two. Coach Prime posted a picture in which he is sitting with his iconic shoe of Black, White and Red. He captioned it with, “We Coming,” to indicate that the reunion between Nike and the Buffalo coach was in the works and that it could soon be announced.

The reunion may have been in the works in the background for longer than we can expect. Coach Prime joined the Colorado Buffaloes in late 2022-early 2023 after his previous stint with Jackson State Tigers. Sanders joining the Buffaloes could have played a role in the reunion that has been announced.

Colorado Buffaloes have been sponsored by Nike since 2005, in a deal which will run till 2025. The sponsorship deal between Sanders and Nike will see him wear Nike apparel while he is acting in his official capacity as the HC for the college.

Despite the success the company and the Pro baller experienced in their affiliation in earlier years. Sanders would go on to claim he will never wear Nike again. This was after an alleged breakup which was the result of Nike failing to provide Sanders with a signature deal to cement their relationship.

Sanders has been making waves in college football and in his personal life. After his deal promoting KFC earlier this year, this deal will add to Sanders portfolio as he continues to build his legacy as a coach.
