Joe Burrow entered the NFL last season amidst much fanfare. A national champion and Heisman winner, the quarterback was the first off the board when the 2019 NFL Draft came around.

And it were the Cincinnati Bengals who managed to scoop up the talented rookie QB. In a team looking to build around Burrow, the quarterback exceeded expectations by hitting the ground running from the get go.

Through his first 10 games, the quarterback accumulated close to 2,700 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. But just as Burrow was getting into his groove, a gruesome knee injury sidelined him for the rest of 2020.

Tearing his ACL, MCL, and suffering other structural issues to his knee, the quarterback eventually underwent surgery to be able to walk again.

But now, after spending more than 6 months on the sidelines, Joe Burrow is back. The quarterback was recently spotted taking part in some light throwing drills as his road to full fitness continues.

Doctors remain optimistic about Burrow’s chances of returning to action come Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season. And one of his wide receivers can’t wait to get back to work with the QB.

“Nothing average about Joe. He’s going to lead us to the promised land,” Boyd said. Commenting further on the quarterback’s progress from injury, Boyd said he was confident that Burrow could play a game if needed.

“Joe looks great. He looks like he’s ready to play a game right now. I’m not worried about Joe. He makes magic when his number’s called.”

Boyd believes that with Burrow, the Bengals are going to be a problem for opposition defenses across the league in the upcoming season.

“It’s like, ‘How do you stop these guys?’ I’m pretty sure there are guys already looking across the league and figuring out what guys got. And I know we’re one of the teams that guys are going to worry about.”
