The New Orleans Saints were left with a huge void to fill at the end of the 2020 NFL season following the retirement of quarterback Drew Brees. The 13-time All-Pro was a for years and even guided the side to its first and only Super Bowl back in 2010.

The Saints went close several times but Super Bowl XLIV was their only trip to the showcase event. And now the Saints are hoping for one among two men to fill in for the franchise legend’s departure.

The two being Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill. While Winston is a more traditional quarterback, Hill is the NFL’s most versatile player. The ‘QB’ has played as a half back, wide receiver, and tight end when needed.
While Saints Head Coach Sean Payton is yet to announce his starting QB, NFL analyst Rich Eisen feels the writing is on the wall.
New Orleans Saints have new QB1 in Jameis Winston
During a segment on the Rich Eisen Show, the analyst talked about the QB scenario in New Orleans. During which he said that the debate over who might be the side’s QB1 should now be put to bed.
“We have a set of eyes. And we are watching and we see what we’re seeing. And Jameis Winston last night was absolutely spectacular. Jameis Winston looked like a starting quarterback in the National Football League,” said Eisen.

Eisen here refers to the Saints’ last preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars where Winston threw two touchdowns.
“What we saw was Jameis Winston looking confident, looking like he knew what he was doing. And just feeling comfortable in this offense.
When your quarterback’s on point, your receivers make better grabs. That’s what happens. It’s all synbiotic. Jameis Winston looks like a starting quarterback. I thought he looked terrific,” Eisen added.

With that being said, Winston did put on quite a display against the Jaguars. While there’s no doubt that the QB has the tools to be an NFL starter, his inconsistencies have come to be his Achilles Heel.
