The New York Giants head into 2021 with high expectations. With the return of running back Saquon Barkley and new additions such as wide receivers Kenny Golloday and Kadarius Toney, the side is looking to turn up the heat next season.
But a lot of their success will depend on the performance of quarterback Daniel Jones. The sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft wasn’t as well received by Giants fans as the franchise’s management would’ve hoped.

Drafted as the man to replace Giants legend Eli Manning, Jones’ inconsistencies have hampered his progress in the league. Now entering his third season, 2021 could well be the make-or-break year for Daniel Jones.
But Jones is not alone in his quest to establish himself as the Giants QB1. The young quarterback knows he can expect help from a certain veteran who knows all about the pressure of playing in New York.
Daniel Jones looks up to New York Giants legend Eli Manning
Speaking to SiriusXM NFL Radio, Jones was asked about his relationship with Eli Manning. The quarterback said that despite Manning retiring at the end of the 2019 season, the two have indeed stayed in touch.
Manning will be returning with the Giants, albeit in a front office role in 2021. And Daniel Jones said having the two-time Super Bowl-winning QB around will help him continue to play the mentor’s role given his experience of playing for the New York Giants.

“Yeah, it is, It is. He’s done it,” Jones said. “He’s played the position in New York. I think that’s part of it and obviously played at a high level and did everything right on and off the field. So he’s a great guy to look to and someone who can help.”
Manning too took sometime to get settled into New York. The biggest media market in the NFL, the expectations can often take a toll. But time is running out for Daniel Jones. If he wishes to remain in the Big Apple for any longer, his performances in 2021 will have a big role to play.
