Bill Belichick has done a world of good for the New England Patriots. Despite losing Tom Brady ahead of the 2020 season, it didn’t take Belichick long to find his footing. The Patriots are now the top seed in the NFL, and aside from Mac Jones and Co, the head coach deserves a ton of credit.

A week ago, Arizona Cardinals’ head coach Kliff Kingsbury claimed Bill Belichick should win the Coach of the Year. He even added that as long as the Patriots HC remains in the NFL, he should win the Coach of the Year award every year. Although the claim is bold, few would disagree with it.

But it looks like Belichick himself disagrees with what Kingsbury claims. Despite being the top-ranked team in a hotly contested AFC Championship, Belichick believes it is Kliff who should win the Coach of the Year honors. Kliff has led the Cardinals to an impressive 10-3 record and they stand atop the NFC West.

“Until he retires, I don’t think anyone else should get that award,” said Kingsbury. In response, Belichick claimed, “That’s very nice of Kliff to toss that bouquet. I’ll toss it right back. Kliff has done a great job and should be Coach of the Year.” It appears as if Belichick and Kingsbury are in a game of ‘toss the bouquet’, but who do you think ends up with the flowers at the end of the season?

Aside from the aforementioned leaders, Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians, Chiefs’ Andy Reid, Packers’ Matt LaFleur and Ravens’ John Harbaugh also come close to taking home Coach of the Year honors. Let’s not forget the likes of Sean Payton, Mike Tomlin and Sean McVay, who have also led their franchises valiantly. But, few will disagree with either Kingsbury or Belichick deserving this award this season.
