Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford had to leave the Detroit Lions franchise to achieve something in his NFL career. Stafford had a testing tenure with the Lions, who didn’t have an appropriate support crew to complement his skill set. But for him, the Lions franchise holds a special place in his heart and is indebted to them. Rams fans might not be happy with him if he doesn’t get the job done, as the franchise went all in to get him.

The 12 years with the team prepared Stafford for the Rams, and when things go sour. The talent within the player is undisputed, and it was only his 0-3 playoff record that raised questions. But his hard work has not gone in vain as Stafford has won all of his playoff games with the talented Rams roster.

A player who was beloved by the Lions franchise and their owners, Stafford was allowed to leave after out of respect for his commitment to the team. The organization realized that both Stafford and the Lions are on different timelines, and opportunity remains for him.

Matthew Stafford and his love affair with the Detroit Lions
The city of Detroit holds a special place in the heart of the Rams QB, who grew and matured while living here. Even all four of Stafford’s daughters were born in Detroit. He faced one of his toughest times in the city, with his wife Kelly having surgery in 2019 to remove a brain tumor. Stafford also became involved with the community, actively taking part in charities and a presence in Detroit.

But even with his departure to newer pastures in LA, he has taken care of his former franchise. His trade opened up avenues for Detroit to hit the reset button and rebuild their franchise from the ground up. The 28-year-old QB leaves Detroit with future draft picks so that they become competitive shortly.
One of the biggest supporters for Stafford in his bid to win his first Super Bowl will be the Detroit faithful. They will root for the QB to come good when it matters and show his talents that Detroit has seen firsthand.
