There’s been a fair amount of conversation of late regarding San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The QB who was signed by the franchise back in 2017 has been their starter for a couple of seasons now with varied success.

Just two seasons ago he carried his side to the Super Bowl, only to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs. And in 2020, he missed 10 games through injury.

That’s been the story for Garoppolo on the West Coast for some time now. Injuries have plagued him every season apart from the one the 49ers made the Super Bowl.

So when healthy, Garoppolo clearly is a quarterback who can take a team to the Super Bowl, but that in itself is a rarity. In his past three seasons with the franchise, the quarterback has missed 19 games.

So it’s no wonder, the 49ers, who’re still in their winning window want to make some changes. The franchise parted with four draft picks, including three first-rounders to trade up to third in the draft table. They now hold the pick earlier held by the Miami Dolphins thanks to the trade of OT Laremy Tunsil.

The San Francisco 49ers moving so aggressively can only mean one thing. The franchise is going for a quarterback. Something that even GM John Lynch confirmed a few days earlier.

What’s next for Jimmy Garoppolo?

The 49ers have a whole host of options to choose from. Apart from Trevor Lawrence, the side will have presumably Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones to make their QB for the future.

One of the four might not be available, as the New York Jets to are likely to draft a QB later this month. So where does this put Garoppolo?

Head Coach Kyle Shanahan has said that Jimmy Garoppolo features in their plans for 2021. And that a trade is not something they’re seeking.

But will he remain their starting QB? His teammate Raheem Mostert definitely thinks so. The running back has spent four seasons with Garoppolo in San Francisco so far, and during a recent radio interview, he said he believes Garoppolo will be their starting QB for 2021.

“I believe Jimmy Garoppolo will be our starting quarterback going into this season,” said Mostert during an interview with SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.

With Garoppolo’s future looking uncertain, who do you feel the 49ers should draft in the 2021 NFL Draft?
