When the former head coach of Jackson State University announced his departure, a tremendous wave of criticism hit him. The 55-year-old coach moved on to Colorado to help the Buffs to eradicate their dry spell. Deion Sanders had been quiet about his response to objections from HBCU advocates and reporters until now.

After the Tigers won the Celebra Bowl, he spoke at a pregame conference. Many asked him if he thought what he set to do at Jackson State was done by him.

Deion Sanders was clear when he answered the questions. He said, “Never once did I say they were going to put a tombstone with my name on it at Jackson State. I wasn’t gonna die here. “Everything I said I would do here I did. Everything I said I wanted to have happen, I tried my darndest to make it happen. We’ve exceeded expectations in some realm.”

Sanders will have to work his magic at CU just like he did at JSU. The former Dallas Cowboys cornerback will have to bring a number of four and five-star recruits to the Buffaloes.

Colorado had a losing record this year (1-11), with its lone victory coming against California. Since 2006, the team has only had one winning season, in 2016.
