The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started slow but quickly became one of the league’s most dominant offensive units in 2020. With the likes of Tom Brady, Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski, and Antonio Brown, it’s no wonder the Buccaneers offense blossomed into its full potential during the Playoffs.

But another player had a crucial role during the Buccaneers’ playoff run. And that player was running back Leonard Fournette. 

Fournette had a roller coaster of a 2020 season. After being picked up by the Buccaneers in free agency, Fournette was close to being cut by the side right before the Playoffs. 

But then, living up to his moniker ‘Playoff Lenny’, he took off and never looked back. And soon ‘Playoff Lenny’ became ‘Lombardi Lenny’.

Another player who earned his first ring with the franchise last season was the problematic wide receiver, Antonio Brown. Someone with whom Fournette seems to share a close bond.

Fournette hopeful of Antonio Brown return 

Recently talking to the media, Fournette talked about the role Antonio Brown played in helping to motivate him.

“The biggest helpers on the team was A.B.,” said Fournette. “Going through what he went through and what I went through, just motivating each other. Those pep talks we had each and every day, just trusting the process… he played a big part, too.”

While Fournette signed a new 1-year deal with the franchise, Antonio Brown’s future remains unclear.

“I hope he comes back. Guys like that, you need around. He’s just I think misunderstood, a lot,” said Fournette. “I didn’t know too much about AB before we played with each other, but he’s a great guy to be around and I hope he comes back,” he added.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Antonio Brown are yet to reach an agreement over his new contract. The wide receiver had switched between multiple teams over the past few seasons including the likes of the Oakland (Now Las Vegas) Raiders, New England Patriots, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brown was signed by the franchise as a free agent midway through the season and he too, like Fournette, saved his best for last by scoring a touchdown in the Super Bowl win against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Whether Antonio Brown returns to the Bucs or not remains to be seen. But if not the Bucs, which other team could benefit from signing the wide receiver?
