The star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers, signed a deal of $50 million per season, which guarantees to pay him $200 million over four years. This deal makes him the highest-paid athlete in NFL. Shannon Sharpe, the former tight end for Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens and the co-host of the show Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, believes Lamar Jackson should be offered the same deal.

The proficiency that Lamar Jackson brings to the game

The burning question, “Does Lamar Jackson deserve more money?” can be answered by looking at how proficient the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens is. Jackson is believed to be the one-man team, coupled with the three consecutive AFC North titles he helped Baltimore to lead, he can become one of the best quarterbacks in the game. In addition to this, he has also set numerous franchise marks.

Jackson averaged 2,922 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, and 9.3 interceptions. However, the issue arises because the Ravens QB does not have an agent to represent him. An athlete without an agent misses out on several opportunities.

Although the air around this debacle hasn’t cleared, the fellow athletes of Lamar Jackson are racking in. Despite that, Shannon Sharpe believes Jackson is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the game. His words were, “I think Lamar Jackson is looking at something 110, 115 Maybe 120 at the time of signing, maybe 200 and at least 200 million guaranteed.” 

The MVP winner player signed a one-year extension of his rookie contract that ended in 2021. The prediction is that Jackson will earn a little over $23 million in 2022, which is remarkably lower than what Sharpe estimated. However, only one thing stays constant, and that is change. Given the phenomenal statistics the Ravens’ QB has engrossed himself, it is only natural to hope for the best.
