Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is well known for his trash talk abilities and recently was given a taste of his own medicine. Brady had recently signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX Sports, which will be the biggest payday of his career. The 7-time Super Bowl champion was congratulated by many fans and teammates on social media, and then former Bengals WR Andrew Hawkins joined in.

While sharing his good wishes with Brady, Hawkins states, “I’d like to take the time to welcome @TomBrady into the very exclusive club of former players who get paid more in media after retirement than they did as competitive athletes. There is no shame in having a mediocre NFL career. Congrats.”

The response rings true in Brady’s case if he decides to retire after the 2022 campaign. Brady’s career earnings as a player would be around $332 million if he hangs his boots next season.

Hawkins and Brady belong to the old school of NFL players who were earning considerably less than the modern NFL players. Hawkins only managed to earn a salary close to $14 million during his playing career. But it appears while Hawkins missed out on a payday, Brady seems to be capitalizing on his golden opportunity.

Brady will be replacing the departure of the lead analyst in Troy Aikman whenever he decides to join the team. He will be paired up with lead NFL analyst Kevin Burkhardt. The FOX network will be looking to revamp and attract fans of the legendary QB to their platform. It also includes ancillary production and marketing elements which would be lucrative for Brady and his pockets.

His deal with FOX allows the Buccaneers QB to increasingly promote and provide more exposure for his brand.

The recruitment of the 5-time Super Bowl MVP was always going to be the biggest deal in the industry.

FOX Sports seems to be attempting to remain patient with Brady. His new deal allows him to join them when he announces his retirement from the sport. The Buccaneers fans will hope that the legendary QB can deliver another Super Bowl championship before he departs.
