During an interview with ESPN, many former players turned journalists gave their two cents on the matter. The most notable of the bunch was New York Giants’ legend, Eli Manning. Manning compared Rodgers to his brother Peyton and Tom Brady. Eli believes that Aaron Rodgers might make a mistake if he leaves the Packers. The grass is not necessarily green on the other side in football.

Eli thinks Aaron Rodgers should not leave the Packers

As we all know, Eli Manning spent his entire career throwing the ball for New York. He stayed with the Giants after being traded in 2004. Manning said that the situation between Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning is very deep.

Peyton spent 14 years with the Indianapolis Colts, but due to a neck injury, Colts traded him to the Cleveland Browns. After playing with the Browns for four seasons, Peyton retired in 2015. He never wanted to leave the Colts, but he was forced to.

“If Aaron leaves, it’s probably going to be his own call,” said Eli. “It’s going to be his decision, saying, ‘I want out of here.’ That’s what he basically said last year is he wanted to get out. I think it’s strange to want to leave someplace where you’ve been your whole life and to leave for the last two years or whatever it may be of your playing career.” According to Eli, leaving Green Bay at this stage would be a mistake for Rodgers.

Tom Brady started his legendary NFL career with the New England Patriots. They drafted him in the 2000 NFL draft. After achieving enormous height he left New England for Tampa Bay in 2019. Brady won the Super Bowl in his first season with the Buccaneers.

“I think with Tom [Brady], he had the chance to look around. And Peyton, they had free reign as free agents to decide, ‘This is the spot to go, this is a good team with a good defense and good receivers.'” Both Tom and Peyton found success after leaving their original franchises.

But it won’t necessarily work out for Aaron Rodgers, in the same way, according to Eli, Rodgers should stay with the Packers till he retires.
