Like plenty of other contract sagas involving quarterbacks, the Russell Wilson & Seattle Seahawks story is turning ugly. Wilson’s displeasure with the franchise is well known.

Russell Wilson isn’t too happy with the pass protection he’s been getting over the past couple of seasons. The QB was sacked 47 times in the league in 2020. What’s more, ever since being drafted in 2012, no QB has been sacked more times than him (394).

Many believe that this is down to Wilson’s style of play. His willingness to scramble out of the pocket often leaves him exposed to the opposition’s defense.

Now all the sacks cannot be blamed on the quarterback’s decision-making alone. But to call out his own O-line for failing to protect him was a step too far according to a former teammate of his.

Russell Wilson criticized for recent comments

Former NFL fullback Michael Robinson, a former teammate of Wilson at Seattle, has spent a considerable amount of time with the QB. Together, in 2014, they won the franchise its first Super Bowl.

But now things have changed. With no more Super Bowl rings to show since then, Robinson can’t fathom how his former QB can walk back to the Seahawks dressing room.

“I just don’t know how you walk back in the locker room where you’re saying my O-Line is getting me hit too much, I don’t have that much say,” Robinson said during a segment of NFL Total Access.

Talking further, Robinson said that given the changes brought about to make this Wilson’s team, the former fullback was taken aback by the QB’s comments.

“I don’t know what Russell wants,” Robinson said. “He’s paid. They paid him twice in Seattle. The front office made sure that every other alpha male — with the exception of Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright and some of the old school guys that are there — they made sure that all of us were out the door so that this team could be Russell Wilson’s. And now this?”
