Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called it the match between David and Goliath. And he isn’t wrong saying that given that his side takes on the defending Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers led by Tom Brady.

Brady and the Buccaneers enter the 2021 NFL season as one of the favorites to lift the crown again. But first, they must get their campaign off on the right note by claiming their first win.

Dallas Cowboys looking to be disruptive against Tom Brady

Speaking to the Dallas Cowboys’ official website, defensive end Randy Gregory highlighted the game plan his side have in mind to ensure Tom Brady has a quiet night.

“You got to make him feel uncomfortable,” Gregory said. “With him he likes to stand tall. You’ve got to make sure you keep bodies around him, even if you’re not hitting him, just being able to get around him, get your hands up, different things like that. Knock him off the spot. Just not really give him a chance to pick us apart as a defense.”

The Cowboys defense was the butt of plenty of jokes last season thanks to their dismal performances. But containing Tom Brady in the opening tie will go a long way in dismantling that narrative.

“Our main goal as a defensive line is to be disruptive, get in the backfield, and get to the quarterback, and cause issues that way. But just not making him feel like he can drop back and stand in the same spot that he dropped back in.”

The defensive end indicated that Brady could be in for a long night given that the Cowboys’ motto is simple – Blitz, blitz and blitz again.

“Blitzing,” Gregory said. “Disguising different calls, things like that — those are all different ways you can kind of get him off his spot, getting him thinking twice about what he wants to do with the ball.”

The Cowboys have the offense to go toe-to-toe with the Buccaneers, but it will boil down to whether or not their defense can keep Tom Brady quiet through the night.
