There were a lot of young talented ballers up for grabs at this year’s 2021 NFL Draft. Of course, all eyes on the quarterbacks but there were a few other offensive players grabbing the limelight as well. Louisiana State University wide receiver JaMarr Chase was one of them.

The 21-year old wideout skipped the 2020 NCAA season due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. But despite his absence, Chase was regarded as a Top 10 prospect in this year’s draft. He was selected as the fifth player at the 2021 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Louisiana-born speedster was reunited with former LSU teammate and top 2020 NFL pick, quarterback Joe Burrow.

JaMarr Chase featured frequently for the Cincinnati Bengals in preseason. The youngster agreed that it’s difficult to play in the big league as compared to college football. Here’s what he had to say in specific about the difference in NFL ball size and structure.

“The ball is different because it is bigger. It doesn’t have the white stripes on the side so you can’t see the ball coming from the tip point so you actually have to look for the strings on the ball at the top, which is hard to see because whole ball is brown and you have the six strings that are white. But for the most part, just have to get used to it and find out what I am comfortable with catching.”

“I don’t want to blame it on me sitting on my butt the whole year, but it probably had something to do with it, of course. There’s a bigger ball adjustment, so I don’t want to make excuses but I’ve just got to be a pro and make the catch,” Chase said via the official Bengals website.
Chase concluded his 2019 season in Louisiana with 1,780 receiving yards with 20 receiving touchdowns on 83 receptions. He was part of the NCAA championship winning team led by Joe Burrow.
