The Sunday matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Football Team turned out to be a nightmare for the Bruce Arians led Bucs. The defending champions did not look like the champions at all, as they “totally” lacked the passion to counter the Washington offense.
Bruce Arians, during his press conference, emphasized that the defense needs to make amends as their inefficiency in containing the Redskins was complete devastation for the entire team. Buccaneers’ head coach felt disappointed talking about his Sunday’s 29-19 loss at FedEx Field.

Bruce Arians disappointed in the Bucs defense
“I think when you practice as well as we did last week, I think they assumed they were just going to go out and play good,” Arians said. “And then that’s something we’ll address. Just because you have a great week of practice, you’ve got to show up on Sunday. If everybody played with the passion and the energy that Devin (White) played with, we wouldn’t have any problems.”

Even though the Buccaneers defense seemed out of place on Sunday, Devin White played his heart out. The linebacker recorded 18 tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hits and three tackles for a loss. However, his contribution to the team was enormous, but the lacking of energy level on the remaining defensive squad did not produce desired results in the bigger picture.

“When we had momentum in the second half and got it to three, they scored,” Arians said. “We scored, missed an extra point and never got the ball back. So we didn’t capitalize. The energy level on defense … That was the most disheartening thing for us, to have a 10-minute drive against us — it can’t happen.”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new week to look forward to
However, despite the disappointing end of the week, Bruce looks forward to their new week with new opportunities. Although he admitted his team lacked the required passion on Sunday, he believes his team can jump back right into their winning form in no time.
“The stupidity has to go away,” Bruce Arians says after today’s loss. Said Bucs are a “very dumb” team and that’s a reflection of coaching.

“It’s normal. That week is over,” Arians said. “This is a whole new week. Practice as well as we did last week and put all the energy in it, but show up Monday night with the passion and the energy it takes to win in this league.”
The Bucs meet the New York Giants in their next week’s fixture on Monday. Will they be well prepared to take on that challenge?
