It seems the new Denver Broncos quarterback wants to sail through the legacy of some of the greatest players of the sport. When asked about his favorite NFL player of all time, without a second thought, Russell Wilson revealed it was none other than, “Peyton Manning.

Russell Wilson names his favorite NFL player

Even before starting a game for the Denver Broncos this season, Russell Wilson has already begun winning hearts. Although he was traded to the Broncos with a lucrative deal, no one expected him to name a superstar from the family. Fans asked him about his favorite player of all time. Without any hesitation, Wilson said it was the Sheriff himself, “Peyton Manning”.

Moreover, he shared a photograph of him alongside the former Broncos quarterback. He told the fans to ask him some questions because he was probably having a haircut with the NFL Veteran. Wilson also added that Manning had coached him in a training camp. “Coached Me In His Camp in 10th Grade” Wilson captioned the post.

No doubt, the Broncos fans just loved his answer! After all, the 46-year-old played a pioneering role in building the team and winning a Super Bowl for the franchise in 2016. With that said, having a QB like Wilson who wants to emulate the legacy of Manning is good news for the Broncos. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks was traded after weeks of negotiations.

The Broncos received Russell Wilson and a fourth-round pick in the exhaustion of five draft picks and three players, including quarterback Drew Lock. For all the trust and money that the Broncos have betted upon Wilson, it will be his duty to give it back by winning a Super Bowl title for the club.

Peyton Manning: A forever legend

After playing for 18 seasons in the National football league, Peyton Manning retired in 2016. In his entire professional career, Manning totaled 71,940 passing yards and 539 passing yards. He was included in the pro-football Hall of Fame in 2021.

The veteran won Super Bowls for the Indianapolis Colts in 2007 and Denver Broncos in 2016. He is the only signal-caller alongside Tom Brady to have won Super Bowls for two different tests in the league.

Manning played for 14 seasons with the Colts and the rest four with the Denver Broncos. His father Archie Manning and elder brother Eli Manning are some prominent names in the NFL. For the hype that has been created, it will be interesting to see how Russell Wilson will begin his new journey with a new team in the upcoming season.
