The 2020 NFL season saw the Arizona Cardinals miss the playoffs by a whisker. Competing from the stacked NFC West division, the Cardinals finished 8-8.

With qualification for the playoffs going right down to the wire, the Cardinals needed to beat defeat division rivals LA Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in the final two gameweeks to go through.

But losing both meant that the Arizona-based franchise had to go through another season without a playoff feature. And missing out on the playoffs yet again meant that QB Kyler Murray is not a happy customer.

Murray looking to guide Arizona Cardinals back to playoffs

Speaking to the team’s official website, Murray stated that last season was a whirlwind of emotions. Even with destiny in their own hands, the Cardinals failed to cross the final hurdle leaving Kyler Murray waiting for his first playoff appearance.

“Emotionally (last season) was definitely frustrating, especially for a guy like me,” Murray said.

“I want to win. Not going to the playoffs is weird for me. I know it’s the NFL and I haven’t been yet. he added.

The Cardinals QB was a star athlete throughout this college career. A Heisman winner with the Oklahoma Sooners and a top baseball prospect as well, not making the playoff is not something he’s quite used to. And not something he wishes to get used to either.

But Murray hasn’t given up. Instead, the quarterback said that he’ll be looking to grow and learn from the failures of the past two seasons to mount a challenge in 2021.

“It’s definitely upsetting, lot of anger and frustrating when you are losing those games you think you should win. At the same time, I’m a self-motivated guy. I take all that as motivation.”

Kyler Murray had a sensational 2020 season. Registering 3,971 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, the quarterback got his first Pro Bowl call up for his performances.

Now heading into his third season in the NFL, big things are expected from the 2019 first-round pick.
