Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has had his ups and downs in his pursuit of an NFL comeback. The former Buccaneers wideout was last playing in the league against the New York Jets before his infamous walk-off from the field. But since his unceremonious exit, AB has been exploring every option for making it back and it seems it will involve some burned bridges.

AB recently took to Twitter to share his current feelings about his situation and stated, “Just wanna Retire A Steeler.” The former Super Bowl champion wants to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers and officially retire as a Steeler.

While Brown had a 9-year stint as a Steeler in the NFL full of promise, the final months with the organization saw his relationship reach a breaking point. Quite dramatically.

The former Central Michigan athlete was drafted by the Steelers in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Brown is a 7-time Pro Bowler and a 4-time All-Pro selection, who totaled 837 receptions for 11,207 receiving yards and 74 TDs. While the Steelers know the talents of AB and the effort he brings every game, the franchisee will be wary of the other aspects he brings with him.

The former Steelers wideout and his on-the-field production were outstanding with the franchise. But his trade in 2019 to the Oakland Raiders in the months following the lack of harmony, shows how unbearable the situation had become. While he moved on to win a Super Bowl championship as a Buccaneer, it appears all the paths are closing down for Brown.

However, on Monday, Brown took to Twitter to clarify that he wasn’t looking to come back and play for the organization. He adds that he just wanted to retire with the team and enter the next phase of his life possibly to follow his rap career.

Despite the problems with the Steelers in the past, there were talks about bringing back Brown in 2020. But AB instead ended up joining the Buccaneers in 2020.

While it has been 2 years since that interest, the Steelers again might consider him. But it would all be dependent on Brown‘s willingness to play in 2022. The retirement talk from AB suggests he has given up hope on making his NFL comeback, but the situation remains pliable as ever.
