Injuries have plagued the New Orleans Saints offense as they head towards their Week 10 fixture against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The Saints are in a desperate situation as their lead running back Alvin Kamara has been ruled out with a knee injury and is not expected to be out for long.

Although the unfortunate absence of Kamara will affect the squad in a big way, as along with him left tackle Terron Armstead and safety C J Gardener Johnson have also been ruled out. The team has also placed the rookie defensive end, Payton Turner, on the injury reserve, leaving the Saints vulnerable.

Alvin Kamara ruled out from New Orleans Saints

As the 5-3 Saints chase the 6-2 Buccaneers up the NFC South table, their list of injuries seems to make their race filled with obstacles. Their most costly game of all has been the 27-25 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, as most of the aforementioned injuries happened during that game.

“A knee injury that he’s rehabbing [to return] as quickly as he can get back,” said Saints coach Sean Payton. He added Kamara was experiencing “soreness,” late in the last week’s game. “There was a play or two that you could see that you could tell.”

Losing Kamara is surely an enormous blow to the franchise, as he has been the Saints’ leader with 32 receptions, 10 more than anyone else on the team. The Saints rank 28th in the NFL this season with just 314.6 yards per game. And they rank 31st in passing offense with 191.6 yards per game out of which Kamara has recorded 105 yards per game this season.

Mark Ingram takes control of the RB spot

During Alvin Kamara’s absence, the running back baton has been handed over to the veteran running back Mark Ingram, who was re-acquired from Houston Texans last month. He will play a huge role in rushing the game for the Saints against the Titans.

Ingram could record a piece of history during his next matchup as he is just 19 yards behind Deuce McAllister’s franchise record of 6,096 career rushing yards. And it is yet to be seen if the plagued Saints could give the Titans a tough competition even without the likes of some core team players.
