How Kobe Bryant influenced Richard Sherman

Athletes often go through a roller-coaster ride every day where they meet the highs and lows in a matter of seconds. As a result, it is important to keep their heads high and drive forward with passion. It is noteworthy that Sherman found a guiding light in Kobe and his heroics inside the court.

In his tribute episode, Sherman recalled an incident when Kobe’s fearless attitude helped him to come out of an unpleasant scenario.

“I remembered that when he tore his Achilles, he walked off the court. Well… he came back, shot two free throws, and then walked off the court. Straight up Mamba mentality. So when I tore my Achilles and somebody tried to help me off the field, I pushed them away like, Get off me! Kobe walked off. So I’m walking off, too,” Sherman said.

Impressive record

A Super Bowl winner, Sherman, has an impressive record to his name. He is voted All-Pro five times and selected to the Pro Bowl five times. In 2013, he played a major role in helping Seattle Seahawks lift their maiden Super Bowl. He played for Seahawks until 2017 and later on joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2018. After two seasons, he moved to Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. It was for a one-year deal.

However, he had a season to forget by his standards in 2021. The experienced campaigner, who came into the squad with new hopes, suffered several injuries and in the process lost his form and permanent place in the squad. As a result, he finished the season playing only five games. Sherman recorded 11 tackles, a pass deflection, and one interception in the 2021 season. It was not enough to win the confidence for a renewal of the contract. Hence, he is trying his luck as a free agent in the 2022 season.
