It’s been a long and arduous summer for the league’s reigning NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers. The 37-year old was pushing for a move away from Wisconsin in the offseason. However, Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst refused to budge.

The Green Bay head honcho was adamant to hold on to his star man who finished the 2020 regular season with 4,299 passing yards and $8 passing touchdowns. Despite trying a lot, Rodgers finally gave in and admitted that he will stay with the Packers in 2021.
However, Rodgers and the Packers have put in the effort to mend their relationship in recent weeks. The California-born quarterback agreed to restructure his contract which freed up up to $10 million in cap space for the Packers.

In 2021, Aaron Rodgers is looking to pick up where he left off last season. Speaking to Peter King on Football Morning in America, Rodgers gave his take on GM Brian Gutekunst and what he expects from the upcoming campaign.
“I mean, the people I have to deal with every day is the staff, my teammates. I have a really good relationship with the staff. Once you get into the football season, those are the most important relationships because you’re talking with them every day.”
“I’ve always had a good relationship with Matt when it comes to play-calling and installs and stuff I like. Then obviously having [offensive coordinator Nathaniel] Hackett, who’s a close friend, in the room, and [passing game coordinator Luke] Getsy. Those are the most important relationships.”
“The other one [Gutekunst], you know, I leave space and optimism for growth and change. But, you know, at this point, my focus is just on the football staff and making sure those conversations and communication are right going into the season,” Rodgers told King earlier this week.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero earlier reported that if Green Bay trades Rodgers before June 1, 2022, they’d be left witht $26.8 million in dead money on its cap.
