Brock Purdy has surely made an impression in his rookie year in the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers QB fit right into head Kyle Shanahan’s plans when both the starters went out with injuries. But the team tight end George Kittle knew all about Purdy’s confidence before that. Kittle revealed how bullying Purdy backfired on him.

Purdy went unbeaten for the Niners in every game he finished. And according to Kittle, the QB will have no problem being a star in the league.

George Kittle had a tough encounter

George Kittle has a way around the rookies. While talking to Pro Football Talk during their Super Bowl LVII coverage, the Niners TE opened up about his method of dealing with rookies.

“I like to throw jabs at rookies just to see how they’re like. Are you going to jab me back? Are you confident in yourself? Or are you gonna be like, ‘oh my god, George is talking to me. I’m friendly, I don’t bully people but I wanna know what your psyche is made of just a little bit,” Kittle said.

So he did the same with Purdy when he came into the Niners setup. But little did Kittle know that it will backfire on him. The rookie QB gave back more than he got.

“So, Brock would fire back at me and like zingers me. I’m like ‘okay Brock I love that confidence’,” the tight end added.

Kittle knew that Purdy could take anything that life (in the NFL) would throw at him. The fans realized it too when they saw him take the field for the Niners. And Mr. Irrelevant quickly became a fan favorite.

The Brock Purdy show

The Niners picked up Brock Purdy last in the 2022 NFL draft. And they or anyone didn’t think that he would play a crucial role in their 2022 run in the NFL. But that is exactly what he did.

The rookie slotted in perfectly when Jimmy Garoppolo went down with an injury. He took the Niners on a winning run all the way to the NFC championship game. And he could have made it to the Super Bowl if he didn’t get a UCL injury during the clash with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Niners’ run ended there, but Purdy is just getting started. Fans are eager to see how he copes when there are expectations from him. But George Kittle sure knows that the QB is ready for anything.
