The Los Angeles Chargers‘ hunt for a head coach and Jim Harbaugh’s indecisiveness have been stealing the football’s spotlight lately. Speculation is everywhere as the Michigan HC has shown interest in coaching an NFL team in the past. But he was reportedly offered a contract of $125 million to stay with the Wolverines. 

Amidst all these conundrums, a recent statement by Jim Harbaugh during his Disneyland Rose Bowl cavalcade spewed multiple conjectures. When asked about his interest in joining the Chargers, he said, “It’s such a one track mind. It’s literally whatever day we’re in, looking to get the most out of it, dominate the day.” As harmless as the statement may seem, it’s apparently not so for some people who brought out the Denver Broncos situation last year. 

Jim Harbaugh’s one-track mind statement spewed trolls

In a recent YouTube video by NFL on NBC, American sportswriter Mike Florio and former NFL QB Chris Simms discussed the likelihood of Jim Harbaugh entering the NFL. Florio stated, “I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes to coach the Chargers. I think this is the year that he makes the leap with all the stuff going on with the NCAA and Michigan.” Simms brought up the multi-million dollar contract with Michigan making it one point that could potentially hold Harbaugh in Michigan. 

Chris Simms recounted what happened when he interviewed with the Broncos last year for the head coaching job. He said, “He said yes, and then he said no, and then he said yes, and then he said no. That’s what happened. That’s how close he was to becoming the Broncos head coach.” Simms further trolls Harbaugh’s recent statement saying, “We also know why he was on one track mind… He was looking at the Chargers job last year too. So, sorry if I don’t believe Jim Harbaugh.“ 

Michigan vs. Chargers – Which is a better prospect?

The Michigan Wolverines are on top of their game ranking No. 1 on college football team rankings. This is the third time the Big Ten champions are making a playoff appearance. Meanwhile, the LA Chargers are suffering a disheartening 5-10 season. They lost their last game against the Buffalo Bills as they head towards their two final games for the season.

If the Chargers are hoping to entice Harbaugh into the NFL, they must be aware that someone who won both the AP College Football and NFL Coach of the Year titles wouldn’t come cheap. With the prevalent college football and NFL dilemma, Michigan has reportedly offered Jim Harbaugh a contract extension that would pay him $125 million over 10 years. That’s one lucrative reason to stay in Michigan and enjoy both field success and a fat bank balance. But anything could happen!
