Shannon Sharpe strongly opposes Deion Sanders’ Eli claims
Shannon Sharpe revealed he wasn’t surprised at Coach Prime’s bold claim that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter should pull an Eli. However, he isn’t pleased with his comment, as stated in the video uploaded by the NFL on ESPN. He said strongly, “Do I like it? No, I didn’t like it when Eli did it. I don’t like it now… Let whatever’s gonna happen, let it happen.”
Shannon Sharpe is aware of Deion Sanders’ wish for his son to join an organization that is offensively well-equipped for him to shine. Likewise, he’s also somehow aware of Coach Prime’s obligation toward Travis Hunter and his mother because the Buffs HC has taken the two-way player under his wings as a father. While it’s understandable that every father’s ambition is to look out for the best paths for their sons, Shannon Sharpe prefers that things unfold naturally without external interventions, especially regarding the NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders might get drafted by a “cr*ppy” team
The recent discussion isn’t the only platform on which Shannon Sharpe cast his objection to Deion Sanders’ protective instinct for Shedeur Sanders. In his recent appearance on Nightcap with Chad Johnson, he said about the whole Eli scenario, “Look, we all want our kids to go to the best situation but you understand as your kid is great, he probably going to a cr*ppy team.”

Sharpe has a point because since Shedeur Sanders could be a potential No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft, the team at the bottom of the chain will be privileged to pick the best player with their No. 1 pick. The 55-year-old wasn’t hiding his objection when Eli Manning pulled the same thing in 2004 when he chose the New York Giants instead of the San Diego Chargers. Although it turned out to be a great choice Manning made as he had an illustrious career, Sharpe disapproves of it because these situations are supposed to be like wild cards without their destiny being written in advance.
