Is Greg Olsen a better broadcaster than Tom Brady? Fox saw things differently when they bumped Olsen down to make space for the GOAT. Maybe it was Brady’s star power, or it was a big business move. Either way, Olsen’s demotion didn’t sit right with a lot of fans. And honestly, it hasn’t dimmed his shine one bit.
If anything, Greg’s only doubled down on his craft. Over the last two years, he’s racked up two Emmy wins, first as Outstanding Emerging On-Air Talent in 2023. And then taking home the big one as the top Event Analyst. Now, here we are in 2025, and Oslen’s back at it again. The former NFLer is up for another Sports Emmy in the same category… as Fox’s ‘No. 2.’ That title might be official on paper, but fans never stopped calling him their No. 1.
In 2022, Brady signed a $375 million, 10-year contract with Fox as an NFL analyst while still playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fast forward to 2024, and he finally made his debut in the broadcast booth. He even called Super Bowl LIX, which was kind of a big deal. But despite the massive paycheck and taking over Greg Olsen’s spot as Fox’s No. 1, Brady couldn’t quite turn that into Emmy gold. And that’s where things are getting a little awkward, especially with Olsen’s name still very much in the mix.

This whole situation speaks for itself. Brady is undoubtedly the bigger name, but fans say Greg Olsen still sounds better in the booth. For Fox, Olsen was more of a fill-in while Brady was still playing, even though they had already signed the QB to that massive contract. It never really seemed like they were planning to keep Olsen as their No. 1 for long.
But with continuous nominations and taking broadcasting awards home, the Panthers‘ TE proves he is bigger at this game. And of course, the internet had thoughts. As soon as Olsen’s nomination hit the headlines, fans flocked to X to weigh in.
The internet crowns Greg Olsen, snubs Brady
“I think there’s a lot of people wondering what I’m going to say right now. I don’t know what the future holds. All I know is I love talking football, I love talking ball. This is super cool, and I look forward to things ahead.” That’s what Greg had to say when he was asked questions about Brady replacing him.

This season, when Brady began his broadcasting job, he received mixed reviews. And now that he hasn’t received any nominations, netizens on X are putting it bluntly -he’s no better than Olsen. “Olsen is 100% the #1. But Fox caved to the Brady obsession, and it failed. Now they are stuck,” wrote a user.

Greg became Fox’s full-time broadcaster in 2021 after his retirement, working alongside Kevin Burkhardt. The following year, when Joe Buck and Troy Aikman left to join rivals ESPN, the channel promoted the former TE to the #1 team. Ironically, it was also the same year Fox locked in Tom Brady with that massive 10-year deal, setting the stage for an awkward future handoff. Now, with Brady’s underwhelming debut season, fans aren’t holding back. One user wrote, “He was hands down better than Brady.” Another didn’t mince words either: “Brady sucks at broadcasting.“
The internet wasn’t wasting any time drawing lines in the sand. One user fired off, “Tom Brady is the GOAT of awful color commentating.” Another came through with a more balanced jab, sandwiching both analysts: “That’s because Greg Olsen is good and Tom Brady isn’t.” Plain and simple.

Well, Olsen is, without a doubt, an amazing broadcaster. That’s been proven time and again. And Tom Brady‘s still in his rookie year behind the mic, so maybe it’s fair to cut him a little slack. What’s your take on this?
