Their star quarterback failed to shine his usual bright, while their star tight end, failed to impress. An overall incompetence gave way to a gaping 9-24 blowout against the mighty Denver Broncos. While Patrick Mahoems might have some substantial cause in his defense, Traves Kelce has his face blown up on the big screen at Globe Life Field on Friday.

Uncle Sharpe was fast to catch on to the reference and welded it as an indicator of the NFL star’s subpar performance. He discussed it at length with his co-host, former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson on his weekly podcast, The Nightcap. 

Sharpe blasts Kelce

Shannon Sharpe was appalled at Kelce’s appearance at Game 1 of the World Series in Arlington, Texas which was held on Friday. “What’s wrong with that?” asked Jonson who seemed to be unaware of the gravity of the situation. “It’s the middle of the season! what do you mean what is wrong with that?” snapped Sharpe.

Jonson quickly followed it up with, “I know the Chiefs lost, I know that Mahomes did not have a game, I know Travis did not have a game, You’re not gonna tell me you can’t enjoy yourself on a Friday night.” To which Sharpe replied, “It was in Texas. He lives in KANSAS CITY.” 

Sharpe went on to explain how coaches have always advised players to rest their legs ahead of a crucial match, especially when it is a day away. Kelce had been indulging in merry-making when he should have taken his upcoming match more seriously according to Sharpe who called out his unprofessional behavior as absolutely “awful.” Almost every Chief player faired badly in Sunday’s match, their star quarterback included. However, he had already furnished himself with a foolproof defense. 

Mahomes gets bogged down by the flue 

Mahomes’ ‘flue day football’ failed to impress. The quarterback took ill Saturday night and had been on IVs. However, he chose to continue playing the match on Sunday. Mahomes connected on 24 of 38 passes for 241 yards, but his performance took a downturn thereon. He failed to score a touchdown and threw two interceptions, lost a fumble, and was sacked three times. 

Mahomes is undeniably the offensive centerpiece, and when he struggles, the entire team suffers. Nonetheless, the loss in Denver underscores a recurring issue for the defending champions this season: the absence of a dependable alternative after Kelce, who has recorded 54 receptions for 583 yards and four touchdowns.
