Born in Rome, Georgia, the former Falcons coach grew up playing baseball, basketball, and football. As he matured, his affinity towards football developed. He joined the University of South Carolina played football for them, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Reeves was known primarily for his coaching skills. However, he had an equally impressive playing career. The legend played for a variety of teams. However, his playing peak came during his stint with the Cowboys.
In his eight seasons at Dallas, he made it to two Super Bowls and had won the Lombardi Trophy in the 1971 season. The Running back with the Cowboys scored 25 rushing TDs and covered 1,990 yards. Moreover, he had 1,693 receiving yards with 17 touchdowns in 100 games.
Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons release statement over Reeves’ death
As impressive as Dan’s playing career is, his coaching career is even better. Overall, the legend had an impeccable 201-174-2 record over 23 seasons. Reeves had accepted the role of Head Coach for three teams. Those are Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons.
The Broncos were the first to put out an official condolence letter. The Denver Broncos thanked him for his contributions in helping them make 3 Superbowl appearances. “We’re saddened by the passing of Ring of Fame Head Coach Dan Reeves, who led us to three Super Bowl appearances” in 1987, 1988, and 1990. We send our sincerest condolences to his family.”

The Falcons, with whom he had his best years, also followed suit through a statement from Falcons owner Arthur Blank. “His track record of success in Dallas, Denver, New York, and Atlanta over several decades speaks for itself, marking a long and successful life and career in football,” said Blank. “On behalf of the Atlanta Falcons, I extend our condolences to Dan’s family and friends as they mourn his passing.”
