He was their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. But analysts are weighing on if he should have let go of his watch without a fight.

Shannon Sharpe and Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson discussed the situation on the Nightcap Show recently. Johnson said, “There’s another lesson in this. Nothing is worth your life. You can buy another Rolex. If someone trying to take your car, you can buy another car.” Sharpe then asked him if somebody had come up to him without a gun or a knife and asked him to hand over his possessions. Would he still give it without fighting?

Johnson’s stance was clear as he replied, “Yes, If somebody come up to you and say Let me get whatever is off of you. You already know they holding.” While his regard for life is fair, many fans also criticized him for not blaming the criminal. However, Sharpe also gave his views on this situation. Both agreed on one point: if a 17-year-old tried to rob the Niners’ offensive tackle Trent Williams, there would have been resistance (like Ricky Pearsall). But Sharpe had a similar viewpoint to Johnson.

The former tight end mentioned that he has also been in some situations that could have turned violent. But he never tried to resist or escalate the situation. But he ended the discussion on an interesting note by saying, “If you ever saw Shannon Sharpe with less than ten bands on him, call the cops. Somebody just robbed him right around the corner.”

Ricky Pearsall might have gotten into this situation without his intention of doing so. A few years ago, two 49ers’ players used 100% brains and avoided a violent robbery.

Linebackers Aravious ‘Ray-Ray’ Armstrong and Reuben Foster were at Love and Propaganda nightclub in October 2017 when they saw an Audi in the vicinity. Sensing that an unpleasant situation could arise, both players handed over their rings and watches to a female friend. Next move! They asked a security guard to accompany them to the parking spot. There was another man with them as well. But some criminals are crazy.

Two men came out of the Audi car with a handgun and an assault rifle. Seeing this, all four of them ran like crazy. The robbers returned to their car and left the area. Both players directly came to the St. Francis Hotel and called the police from there. Many veteran police officials praised their smart thinking, but a few also cautioned against this approach, claiming sometimes robbers could also fire.

However, with the recent situation of Ricky Pearsall, it is more appropriate to hand over the belongings than putting life in danger. While the rookie WR is stable, no one knows how much time he needs to come back to the gridiron. The Faithful are hoping for something positive.
