There was panic before the lullabies, the baby bottles, and the Instagram-worthy moments. Not the adorable type. And that’s where Trevor and Marissa Lawrence were not too long ago. It started with a faint line on a test. But excitement turned into dread quicker than they could brace for it. There was no increase in hormone levels. Physicians began preparing her for the worst. Marissa received a cold, clinical phone call telling her to “expect a miscarriage.

Then—somehow—faith stepped in where medicine fell short. On November 9th, 2023, Marissa gave birth to a 10-pound, 2-ounce miracle named Shae following 17 hours of labour, no epidural, and more blood loss than anyone should have to go through. Trevor remained by her side for six hours in a row, his voice firm despite the turmoil and one arm in a sling.

And now months later, in the privacy of their own house, that love resurfaced in the gentlest of scenes—no ESPN mic, no Jaguars helmet, no red carpets. Just their daughter Shae lying peacefully on a play mat, getting entertained by the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother—a toy meant to lull babies to sleep. Marissa posted a video of that exact moment with just six words wrapped in two crying emojis: “Please stop growing up so fast 😭😭.” These six little words were enough to knock the internet to its knees and enough to sum up a journey that is emotional, raw, and real.

But this wasn’t just about a baby getting older. This story was about a mother recalling all the events leading up to that brief playmat moment, including the near-loss, the miracle, and the storm before the calm. Because Marissa had already taken followers through the unfiltered, tear-drenched rollercoaster of what it took to even get here.

“We left the dr office crying and confused… I should expect to have a miscarriage within the week.” Then came the twist no one saw coming: “Well now fast forward a week… my levels double. And then they double again.” A medical dead-end turned into divine intervention. “It’s funny how a Dr gave me no hope and I believed it… Little did I know He had a far greater miracle for us,” said Marissa, sharing the whole story on her Instagram.

Marissa didn’t sugarcoat it. Standing through pain, leaning during contractions, and giving up to God when there was no more strength to fight—she compared the labor to a combat zone enveloped in faith. The bleeding wouldn’t stop. There were issues with the placenta. But still—Marissa lived through it. And Trevor? He was my rock and held my hand and spoke life and encouragement over me for 6 hours straight. He was calm and comforting and everything I needed!!! I’m so grateful to have him as my husband, partner, and best friend. I’m even more grateful Shae gets to grow up learning what it should look like to be loved and protected by a man through him,” said Marissa.

And just when you think her heart couldn’t possibly hold more emotion—it did. Because as Marissa sat there on the same couch where she once sobbed over a phone call that said “expect a miscarriage,” she posted something else. An anniversary tribute to Trevor Lawrence that reads like a love letter. A quarter of a decade!! The more I’ve known you and loved you the more I’ve seen how rare you are… You are a safe place, a soft presence… One of my favorite things is hearing all the people that simply want to shake your hand and say thank you for the man that you are…Happy anniversary Trevor. Here’s to forever more🤍”

But while Marissa was reflecting on what they’d built behind closed doors, Trevor was out front, building something just as powerful in public view.

Trevor Lawrence trades touchdowns for tears with heart-melting ‘contract’ signing

It wasn’t a multi-million dollar contract this time. It wasn’t the quarterback signing a deal that would break the league. Blaze, a little fan from Make-A-Wish, Illinois, was signing a contract of a different sort.

The Jacksonville Jaguars transformed their locker room into the NFL’s most emotional front office at a Fanatics-hosted promotional event. With a gold chain heavier than a linebacker’s equipment and a “Make-A-Wish Illinois” t-shirt, Blaze officially signed a contract with the Jaguars. Yes, official—as in a real contract, team pen to paper, handshake in the front office, “You’re one of us now” type of contract.

However, this moment was a part of something much larger than a fleeting social media sensation. Make-A-Wish Foundation gives a child with a life-threatening disease a wish that might change their life every 33 minutes. The organisation transforms dreams into lifelines with the support of tens of thousands of volunteers, donors, and supporters, providing children with the hope that all is possible, even when they are facing their most difficult obstacles. Blaze’s shift included a contract, a uniform, and a quarterback who made him feel like a member of the team.

And Trevor Lawrence didn’t just show up—he showed out. He signed a custom-made jersey for Blaze, etched with a message that read: “Blaze, you’re a Beast!” And the world collectively melted. Fanatics posted it with the caption: “Blaze got the full star treatment, signing an official contract to join the @jaguars and hanging with the whole team. Trevor Lawrence pulled up and even signed a 1-of-1 jersey for him. The smile on his face says it all ❤️”

And if you’re wondering how he did this after supporting his wife through six hours of arduous work, here it is. It isn’t a coincidence. That’s consistency and character. He’s the man who held Marissa’s hand while her body screamed through labor. The man she says makes people feel seen. And now, Blaze joins that list. Not as a fan. But as part of the family.
