Who is Tammie Edwards?

Zion Johnson’s mom, Tammie Edwards, has worked as a creative director at the National Institutes of Health. She manages the office of the chief of the Medical Arts Branch. Isn’t that unique about any footballer’s mom, huh? Interestingly, she has also played basketball. After retirement, she is working as a director of the ORS Division of Amenities and Transportation Services.

And you know what’s the best Tammie Edwards did in her entire life besides this professional duty? She gave us a top-starting football guard in the NFL by pushing him on the gridiron. “This is probably a unique story, but the main person who pushed me into playing football was my mom,” the 6’3″ NFL guard recalls mom every time he gets asked about his accidental entry into football.

“My mom always taught me you wanna try things in life so you don’t look back and have regrets and for football, that was the case,” Zion recalled this learning after having a successful career. But before he gets into the NFL, Tammie Edwards used to look after everything for Zion. She got emotional after learning Zion got his first four-year contract in the NFL.

Zion used to play golf. And after moving to South California, Tammie Edwards and Zion, both were fully focused on football. Tammie Edwards also used to attend practice sessions with Zion. In college, he was so a powerful guard that even after changing college teams he earned his name as an All-American. It was all possible because of his educated mom.
