What is the Lombardi Trophy made of? 

The Vince Lombardi trophy is all made of sterling silver. Shocked, right? The sterling silver is mostly known for its durability and brilliance. And talking about the weight and size of the trophy, it’s 22 inches tall and weighs around 7 pounds, that is, 3.2 kilograms. But the material is not that hard like metal. And we have seen in 2019 how the Patriots star wanted to swing the Lombardi like a bat and it fell out of his hand. What do you think was the result of that? Yeah, it left a dent on Lombardi. But it’s a fact that in 1966 when NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle wanted a good designer for the trophy, the then Vice President of Tiffany & Co. Oscar Riedner took the responsibility. Interestingly, every year, all the players of the winning team get a small replica of the Lombardi Trophy. But hold on, the story doesn’t end here. Do you know when the first Lombardi was awarded? Did you know, that since the 1996 season, the ceremony has been arranged to award it to the winner. Till then, the decorated Vince Lombardi trophy was given in the locker room. Yeah, it’s shocking but real. The first team to win the Super Bowl trophy was the Green Bay Packers on January 15, 1967. But for that time, the name of the trophy was not the Vince Lombardi trophy, but the ‘World Professional Football Championship’. The current name was given to the trophy when former Packers legend Vince Lombardi died in 1970.

Do you know the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Patriots have won the most number of Lombardi trophies (six) in NFL history? Jerry Joness franchise, the Dallas Cowboys follows them. The Cowboys have won five Lombardi trophies which also include two back-to-back trophies but missed the three-peat in 1994. The Cowboys are then followed by the Packers with four wins and the Las Vegas Raiders with three victories.
