“Health is the number 1 priority this offseason ahead of 2025.” Trevor Lawrence said this in January after facing a season-ending injury on December 1, 2024, in a game against the Houston Texans. Lawrence sustained a concussion in the second quarter of week 13. Since that day, he hasn’t returned to the gridiron, and that is the main concern for Liam Coen’s Jaguars. But now there’s an update!

The Jaguars are locked in working harder this season after ending the season with a weak record of 4-13. And all eyes are on Trevor Lawrence’s return. And while we are discussing the same, the Jaguars have a greater plan this offseason to help out their star QB. NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe revealed this update on his social media on Tuesday, April 8. 

Wolfe reported, “You know, Liam Cohen has talked about helping his mechanics and his footwork. You notice in the last couple of years, Trevor Lawrence got a little bit off with his footwork. And so they’re going to try to put that into action.” He also added, “They also want to see him in this new offensive scheme. From what Cohen said at the league meetings, Trevor Lawrence is right on track from that offseason surgery he had on his shoulder. They expect him to be throwing in May once they get to OTAs.” To explain it in a nutshell, Trevor’s throwing arm is getting better. Lawrence suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 9 game against the Eagles. In the whole season, he only played 10 games and still made 11 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 60.6%.

As the Jaguars are kicking off their first offseason under the newly added HC Liam Coen, the head coach has also himself updated fans about the same. In a recent interaction with reporters, Coen said, “To be able to ultimately get the best out of our QB, we gotta be able to help.” And solidifying this update, Wolfe also said, “Liam Cohen, the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator, has met with Lawrence several times, noting his mental toughness and desire for rigorous coaching.” But as we are talking about getting help, the Jaguars can also use the eye for a good RB, WR, or even backup to have a solid season if anything happens to Lawrence’s shoulder again. 

And how can we say that? According to Draft Sharks, there is a 38.1% probability that Trevor may face injury in the upcoming season. Though it’s a low risk, the Jaguars can look for a worthy candidate from this year’s draft to help out Lawrence. According to Sports Illustrated’s John Shipley, Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell, and Colorado WR/DB Travis Hunter are the best prospects that Liam Coen’s team can hire. 

And why are we talking about all this? It’s not only about providing help to Trevor or having more practice sessions. That’s a need, no doubt about it. But the ultimate goal is only one- winning Lombardi. 

The Jaguars want Trevor Lawrence to repeat the season 2022-2023 

It was the year 2021 when the Jaguars drafted Lawrence with a massive $36,793,488 rookie deal for four years. Generally, the QBs get lesser contracts in their rookie period. But the Jaguars believed in him, and Lawrence proved that he is worth more than that in the next season. 

After 2017, the Jaguars first time went to the playoffs in the 2022 season. It was Trevor Lawrence’s 2nd year in the league. On January 14, 2023, they registered a win against the Chargers in the wild-card round but lost to the Chiefs in divisional round. Trevor made his name in the league that year with an unwritten note: ‘Trevor has arrived. ‘ 

In that postseason, Lawrence landed five touchdowns, passing 505 yards while completing 52 out of 85 throws he made with a completion percentage of 60.5%. And that’s what the Jaguars want Trevor Lawrence to repeat in the upcoming season. The Jaguars organisation believes in their QB. The only thing they need right now is to have their QB healthy and fit to get into his beast mode.
