During the NFL broadcasting frenzy in 2022, when Troy Aikman left FOX Sports for ESPN, the network suddenly had a wide-open vacancy. To replace one NFL great, they pursued another. Even though he never had any interest in broadcasting, Tom Brady could not say no to showing the fans the game he has loved all his life through his eyes. There was one pickle, though: He did not know how to put his excruciatingly detailed and impressive thoughts into words. But TB12, of course, found a solution.

As a rookie in the broadcasting booth, Brady had pages of notes on what to say and not to say in front of him. But this approach had two problems. First, he could not give his natural reaction to the game. Second, it was a leash on his expertise as a legendary quarterback. This season, he ripped those notes apart and entered the booth as one of the best analysts simply because he would not hold onto his natural reactions. Only if he had saved some of those notes for Sunday…

“Oh, s–t,” Brady said over the FOX live broadcast of the Washington Commanders versus the Dallas Cowboys. But who wouldn’t react that way, considering the view.

With three seconds remaining before halftime, the Commanders, trailing the Cowboys 10-17, were trying to score from the Dallas 1-yard line. Just then, on a dropback, left guard Chris Paul stepped on Daniels’ foot. Trying to brace himself from the awkward fall, he reached his non-throwing left hand to the ground, only to see it pop in the wrong way. He threw a wild, incomplete pass to end the drive and then stayed down momentarily before walking towards the sideline. The injury was nasty enough to validate Brady’s slip. But realizing his job, he quickly apologized to the viewers.

“I’m sorry. Was not expecting to see that,” Brady quickly followed.

Daniels had gone 11-of-17 for 96 yards and a touchdown before the injury. As for Daniels, this was his second time dislocating his left elbow, the first coming in November 2025 after taking a hard sack, which ruled him out for a good amount of time. He aggravated the injury when he returned in Week 14 and was then out for the season. For now, he is supposed to fly home with the rest of the team, where he “will undergo additional testing” on Monday, according to the Commanders’ head coach, Dan Quinn. Marcus Mariota started the second half at quarterback.

As for Brady, as I mentioned earlier, he no longer has those helping cues in front of him. Because he repeated the same mistake again.

Tom Brady apologizes only to unleash yet another profanity, as the Cowboys offense leaves him excited

Dallas’ offense was flowing well enough yesterday, and their quarterback Dak Prescott was not showing any signs of slowing down. Just then, he showed why he is considered one of the best under center in the NFL.

With 6:16 left in the regulation and the Cowboys leading 20-37, Prescott sent a 35-yarder to CeeDee Lamb along the right sideline while facing a 2nd & 12. Two Washington defenders guarded Lamb, but the ball flew right past the Commanders’ #0, Mike Sainristil, and into the wideout’s hands. It was a beautiful pass, but Brady had some other words to describe it.

“Absolute p*** missile up the sideline. (Mike Sainristil) still stinking in cover two, and CeeDee settles in that hole,” Brady said.

No apologies followed this comment, but the Cowboys made a statement.

Dallas ended that drive with Prescott’s fourth touchdown of the day. It was his 249th TD, a franchise high, as he surpassed Tony Romo. But more importantly, it was yet another risky throw that established Lamb as Prescott’s favorite target.

With 3:07 on the clock and the Cowboys facing a 2nd & 6, Prescott sent yet another missile towards Lamb, who was inches from the end zone. Despite Sainristil face-guarding the wide receiver, the latter jumped into the air to catch the ball and give the Cowboys another score for the day.

Lamb recorded 153 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Prescott completed 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns for a 143.8 passer rating.

Brady was certainly aware of the broadcasting rules, but he couldn’t hold his feelings back in these two moments, showcasing just how real and enthusiastic he could be if he is allowed to be himself, a request he had from the network to kick off this season.

No one is unaware of the boring analysis Brady had in his young broadcasting career. But as I mentioned before, the reason was him following the rules way too thoroughly. So, this offseason, he wanted FOX Sports to give him some leeway.

“I started to transition this year into, ‘Let me do more of how I did it as a quarterback,’ because that’s really where my comfort is,” Brady said. “As opposed to, ‘Let me try to prepare as a broadcaster.’”

Brady still likes doing everything he does as a broadcaster, one of the favorite parts being connecting with the other players during their network meetings ahead of the games. Now, they are no longer opponents, just fellow NFL players. But he certainly had an uphill task to reach where he is. That is, among the best in the business.
