The Tennessee Titans won their second preseason game 19-16 against the Seattle Seahawks, but their starting players still struggled. Seattle was resting many of its main players, so the Titans were expected to perform better. Instead, the Titans’ first-team offense had trouble moving the ball and making big plays. And an NFL radio host is not letting this slide easily.

“This organization is soft,” radio host Jared Stillman said on Stillman and Company. “This team is soft. I just am not ready for another season where we’re gonna know by September 27 that this team f-cking sucks and the season’s over and let’s get ready for the draft.

“But that’s what it looks like. I’m gonna tell you how I know this organization is soft. They practiced with the Seahawks on Friday. The Seahawks backups take their belts out in front of everybody, in front of a national audience, and spank your starters on the rear end.”

The Titans’ starting offense struggled badly against Seattle’s backup players. Cam Ward played three drives and completed 8 of 12 passes for 69 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions. His biggest play was a 33-yard catch-and-run by Tony Pollard, but most of his other completions were very short.

But even when they had chances, they missed them completely. Carnell Tate did not catch any of his passes thrown his way in the Titans’ preseason game. Even tight end Gunnar Helm could not do much when he had a chance.

Cam Ward also mentioned how the receivers need to step up their game when they get chances.

In the second quarter, he caught the ball from Ward but could not keep his second foot inside the field. Because he stepped out, the Titans lost a chance to gain any yardage.

“We only get a certain amount of shots that we get to take every game because the defense is so good,” Ward said. “So when we get to play downfield, the receivers and I have to make the plays.”

The Titans had trouble keeping their drives going because they could not gain enough yards. They converted only 2 of 8 third-down attempts in the first half. The running game also struggled. Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears combined for only 14 yards on four carries, so the Titans could not get much from their running backs when they tried to run the ball.

However, Robert Saleh mentioned that they are still not showing their entire offensive strength.

“We’re still going out there and running our base, vanilla offense,” head coach Robert Saleh said. “We’re barely motioning. We’re normal spacing. We’re not exactly making it very easy for our players to go execute.”

But despite that, the problems became very evident in the game, and the Titans need to address concerns around their offense ahead of the season.
