Michael Lombardi, a former New England Patriots official, has shed light on a lengthy meeting between Bill Belichick and Falcon’s owner Arthur Blank. Bill Belichick parted ways with the Pats after a 29-season run. The six-time Super Bowl winner is a prized possession for any team. The years of experience he brings to the table are unmatchable. Rightly so, the Falcons didn’t want to miss the opportunity and called up Belichick for an interview.

Process of ‘discovery’

A panel member at “The Pat McAfee Show” asked Lombardi about the extended interview in a hilarious fashion. He pointed out Belichick’s long interview and said, “What is Bil Belichick even doing spending three-and-a-half hours? Can he just walk in and be like, ‘Hey 28 to 3 b*tch, I should be the coach.'” McAfee interrupted and said, “Does he wear the rings too?” leaving everyone in splits.

After some deliberation over the same, Lombardi explained, “When he went in there it’s about learning as much about our Arthur Blank is, Arthur Blank is learning about him.” Lombardi tried to express the mindset of Arthur Blank and why the meeting took so much time. He acknowledged the relationship between owner and coach, “There is not gonna be any buffers in this. This is going to be the owner talking directly to him.”

He explained further, “I think three-and-a-half hours were spent trying to understand one another.” He made a cheeky remark, “These things are marriages, you just can’t rush into it. This isn’t speed dating or the senior bachelor.” After his explanation, Lombardi anticipates, “There’ll be another meeting down the road.” He compared the procedure to a court case where one has discoveries at every step. Other than Belichick, what options do the Falcons have?
