Essentials Inside The Story

  • Terry Bradshaw criticizes George Pickens over his poor attitude amid another Cowboys' defeat
  • Jerry Jones defends Pickens, calls criticism unfair
  • Jones labels season underachieving, stays optimistic ahead

With the 34-17 defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Dallas Cowboys are officially out of the 2025 NFL playoff race. Their fate was more or less set after their previous defeat; however, the team put forth one final time, only to fall short significantly. Looking deeper into this defeat, wide receiver George Pickens, who has been one of the most important players on the offense, had a solid effort.

Yet, NFL legend Terry Bradshaw wasn’t happy with the receiver’s attitude and called out Pickens after the loss.

“I don’t care how great you are individually, but to win championships, everybody has to play for everyone Bradshaw said. “You just can’t have one guy going, well, I need my numbers. If I don’t get my numbers, I’m not running routes. He never shows up, never shows up. And it’s just exactly one of the reasons that Pittsburgh got rid of him.”

Against the Chargers, Pickens had seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. Despite the WR’s explosive performance, the Cowboys picked up their third straight defeat of the season.

According to team owner Jerry Jones, the general criticism faced by Pickens is unjustified, given his 81 catches for 1,212 yards and 8 touchdowns so far for the Cowboys.

“I think the criticism of this last ballgame is being hard on him,” Jones said during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “Not justified… I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a body of work or a season dismissed as quickly as it was with Pickens getting criticized against Detroit. And that’s madness… But I’ll tell you what, he’s had a great week of practice.”

With that said, it feels that Pickens will have a few more chances to prove his worth as a Cowboy. Now, looking at the team, how has America’s Team performed this season, according to Jerry Jones?

Jerry Jones shares verdict on Dallas Cowboys’ 2025 season

Jerry Jones is filled with disappointment about how the season has gone for his Dallas Cowboys. America’s Team has a 6-8-1 record this season and is in second place in the NFC East division, but has been officially eliminated from playoff contention. With another season without the playoffs, Jerry Jones expressed grave disappointment.

“We all underachieved, really,” Jones said. “And the fact we’re not in the playoffs says that for you.”

Despite this initial reaction, Jones remained positive about the future.

“We’ve got a team that I think has got a top future as far as next year’s concerned,” Jones said. “Starting with the offense, starting with that as we stand here tonight. And I think we’ve got the bones of the heck of a defense out there as well.”

With that said, it seems that Jerry Jones has finally found a blueprint for success, and he should focus on improving certain areas that affected the Cowboys’ late-season run to the playoffs to ensure they win it all next year.
